We take a lot of care preparing our cows' milk products, and just as much care making sure they get to you in perfect condition. But when we pack them we're also very aware of our responsibility to the environment and we 'do our bit' wherever we can.
We use paperboard cartons to package our Channel Island milk and plastic bottles for the Sterilised milk.
The packaging for our Channel Island Milk can be recycled. The cartons are manufactured by Tetra Pak who are working hard to make carton recycling widely available, including approaching individual local authorities to encourage them to provide carton recycling facilities. Click here to find out where you can find these in your area.
There’s more good news. Our cartons are printed and delivered on rolls, which means one truck can transport enough material to pack nearly 1,000,000 standard 1 litre cartons. It would take over 50 trucks to deliver the same number of pre-formed bottles. For more information, click here.
Sterilised MilkOur Sterilised milk is packed in HDPE (high-density polyethylene) plastic bottles. The coloured caps are polypropylene and both are recyclable. If your local authority collects plastics from your kerbside, that's perfect. If not, most local recycling centres provide a facility for recycling plastics.
The bottles are formed from plastic granules at the dairy immediately before they are filled with milk. So there's no need to transport bulky empty bottles to the dairy.
